THESE FOUR EASY STEPS COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE
- Always call before you dig
- Wait the required time for facilities to be marked
- Respect the marks
- Dig with care
Excavation damage is one of the leading causes of pipeline incidents. PA state law requires that you or the contractor performing the work call the PA One Call System by dialing 811 at least three business days before beginning any digging or excavation project. Every digging project requires that you call 811 before digging – even small projects like planting trees or shrubs. If you hit an underground utility line while digging, you could harm yourself and those around you and disrupt vital services to an entire neighborhood or community. You could also be responsible for fines and repair costs.
When you call 811, you will need to provide your name, location address of the proposed excavation, your contact number, the type of work proposed and the proposed date of the excavation. The PA One Call Center will notify Adelphia Gateway, LLC and other utility owners of your intent to excavate. Within three days, the utility companies will mark the location of the utility on your property using paint or stakes. Adelphia Gateway, LLC does not charge a fee to have our pipeline located.
No excavation of any kind within the Adelphia Gateway right of way will be allowed without our representative at the site. If you think you hit or damaged our pipeline while excavating, call us immediately at 1-800-747-3375.
Remember, it is your responsibility to call 811 before you dig, wait the required time for facilities to be located and marked, respect the marks and dig with care to avoid damaging underground facilities.
